The IWCF Level 4 Drilling Well Control course is advanced well control training built for wellsite supervisory personnel and office-based decision-makers involved in well design and drilling operations. Building on Level 3 fundamentals — including kick detection and shut-in procedures — Level 4 focuses on more complex aspects of well control theory, well kill methodology, and the operational judgment expected at the supervisor level.

Delivered over five days, the course combines interactive lectures, group discussion, video and animation, and hands-on drilling simulation exercises, supported by a classroom workbook and self-study materials. Level 4 training may run partly alongside Level 3 for shared modules and simulator-based exercises, with each candidate assuming their respective operational role as they would during normal drilling operations. The course is designed for Drilling Supervisors, Superintendents, Company Men, Tool Pushers, OIMs, Rig Managers, and other personnel directly involved in wellsite supervision and operational decision-making.
